projects
Kindergarten went down to El Salvador for their first project during Hispanic Heritage Month. We looked at the artwork of Fernando Llort and then practiced our cutting and coloring skills on houses and trees. We turned it into a whole class project by creating a caserio, village, with all of our work!
Looking at the work of Wassily Kandinsky, students were able to name and draw different types of lines and shapes. After dividing their paper with lines, we used tempera paint to fill in the created spaces.
Next up we learned about functional art, art that serves a purpose or has a job. We traveled to Egypt for our first project as we made necklaces and wrist cuffs just like the kings and queens wore. We practiced making color and shape patterns first and then worked to fill in our jewelry with a repeating design.
